Michael & Ann DeSisti UNICO Scholarship - April 24th Due Date

The Sayre Chapter of UNICO sponsors a combined 4 year scholarship consisting of the Michael & Ann DeSisti Scholarship and the UNICO Foundation Scholarship.
Eligibility Requirements:
1. Students must:
a. Be a member of the senior class
b. Be eligible for graduation
c. Be able to show proof of acceptance at an accredited college or university
d. Enroll in the specified college/university in the summer or fall of the year
graduated from high school
e. Major in Special Education, Occupational or Physical Therapy, Nursing or a
related field and plan to enter into a career working with people with disabilities.
2 . Eligibility shall be based upon scholarship and financial need.
3. Any member of the immediate family of a UNICO member is not eligible.
Limit of Scholarships:
The Michael & Ann DeSisti Scholarship is a 1 year award paid in the student's freshman year. The UNICO Foundation Scholarship is an award paid in the remaining 3 years. The Scholarship is $8000 divided into 4/$2000 payouts. The award will be paid at the beginning of the 2nd semester each year, and will be made payable to the student and the Financial Aid Office of the college/university to which the student will matriculate.

Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce - Joe Wolf Memorial Scholarship Award in Honor of Eleanor Hill - DUE 4/22

Awarded to students who have exhibited interest, enthusiasm and involvement in our local Community along with our activities, events, and organizations. Students have exhibited volunteerism and have served as leaders and role models to others. Their future interests lie in business or community development. Consideration will also be given to students pursuing Special Education.

Kathy M. England Nursing Scholarship - April 20th Deadline Approaching

Kathy graduated from Waverly High School in 1972 and then progressed to a successful over 40-year nursing career at the University of Rochester, Strong Memorial Hospital. Post WHS, she earned a Nursing Diploma from Arnot Ogden School of Nursing, then progressively, a Bachelor’s and then a Master’s degree from St. John Fisher University. She created this scholarship to support the career choice of a future nurse.

Eligibility Criteria: a student enrolling in an associate or baccalaureate program to pursue a registered nurse degree.

Scholarship Amount: $1000.

Application:
• Submit the following to their guidance counselor by April 20th, 2026:
o A copy of high school transcript
o A copy of acceptance letter to an accredited nursing program
o Two letters of recommendation from teachers or counselors
o Write an essay (300 words) on why you want to become a nurse.
o Provide a list of school-based activities (including leadership positions, clubs, athletics) as well as community volunteer activities, awards, honors, or other factors that indicate your potential to excel as a nurse.

Leprino Scholarship - Due April 13th - LAST DAY TO APPLY!

The Leprino Foods Waverly plant is pleased to offer their annual $1,000 Scholarship to one graduating Senior at each of the following schools: Waverly High School, Sayre High School & Athens High School.

Students must be entering College or a Trade School for the Fall 2026 term, carrying a minimum 3.40 GPA, and pursuing a degree or certification in: Dairy Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering or Maintenance areas.

Students must submit a completed application, copy of acceptance letter and copy of their High School transcript.

BOCES Career and Technical Education (CTE) Application Information/Catalog - APPLICATIONS DUE - FINAL REMINDER

Students that would like to begin the CTE Application Process for 2026 are now able to do so. Please see the below information for students doing the application process on their own.
Students can apply using generic account information. Students can also complete an application with their Guidance Counselor (preferred method - please email your Counselor to setup an appointment).

Norman J. O'Neil Memorial Scholarship - Cops4aCause - Deadline Extended to 4/24

Norm's career in public service as a NYS trooper spanned over 31 years serving the people of New York State, primarily in Broome and Tioga Counties. He served as a trooper and an investigator and was a member of several specialized units. His responsibilities were important to him and Norm could always be counted on to help. He had the strongest sense of dedication and commitment and leadership, distinguishing him as a trusted role model for all.

This scholarship award will ensure that the work ethic and characteristics of Norm and how he lived his life every day continues in some small way. The scholarship in the amount of $1000 presented through Cops4aCause is competitive. There is only one recipient each year from thirteen (13) schools within Broome County and one recipient from six (6) schools within Tioga County. Applications are submitted by graduating high school seniors. The scholarship is awarded to a student in recognition of their community service and who will be pursuing studies in law enforcement and related fields and who exemplifies the values and ideals that were the core of Norm's life.

Waverly Teachers' Association Scholarship - FINAL REMINDER - DUE 4/24

This scholarship is given by the Waverly Teachers’ Association to a deserving student in the current graduating class who has been enrolled in the Waverly School District for at least the last two years of their high school career.

In addition, the student should be pursuing a degree at a 2 or 4 year college in a service field. Preference will be given to those entering the education field.

The Scottish American Society of the Southern Tier Scholarships

The Scottish American Society of the Southern Tier is again offering the $500 Robert Burns Scholarship, along with the $500 George Cunningham Scholarship to graduating seniors. Also, this year the Society is offering an additional $500 scholarship given in memory of Bruce Stewart by his family. Scottish ancestry is not a requirement, merely a carefully thought-out essay with personal interest in Scottish culture clearly explained.
Criteria and application process are the same for all three scholarships.

E.J. Brewer Marine Corps League 2026 Scholarship
Information, Criteria & Requirements

1. Amount - Three scholarship opportunities -- with a total of $4500 to be awarded
a. Each winner will receive a scholarship of $1500
b. Half will be awarded in July, at Family Picnic Eldride Park
c. Second Half will be awarded upon successful completion of first semester and
enrollment in second semester with cumulative average of 3.00.
d. It is the scholarship winner's responsibility to request the remaining portion of scholarship after completion of first semester:

a. Reside in Chemung County and receive a GED or Home School equivalent of a
GED in 2026
OR
b. Graduate from a high school or certified trade school (BOCES) in Chemung
County.
3. Applicant must attend
a. A two- or four-year college or university after completing High School Diploma
requirements in 2026
OR
b. Certified Trade School in 2026.
4. Application will be completed in full and included applicant's and parent permission for
members ofthe E.J. Brewer Detachment to make inquiries concerning the information
presented on the application.

6. Award of scholarship is not solely based on the applicant's academics, but a review of the
application and the applicant's involvement within the community.

Tioga Tae Kwon Do Scholarship - Community Foundation of the Twin Tiers - Final Reminder - March 31st Due Date

Tioga Tae Kwon Do established an annual academic scholarship award available to their
students that have demonstrated outstanding academic and martial arts performance and will be
pursuing a college degree. Applicant must be an active student of Tioga Tae Kwon Do, LLC.
The decision is based on merit and not need. Applicant shall have demonstrated strong academic
and martial arts performance.
Eligibility Criteria:
 Applicant must be an active student of Tioga Tae Kwon Do, LLC.
 Enrolled in accredited college or university.
 Essay (200-250 words doubled spaced) on how Martial Arts have influenced your life,
focusing on tenets of Tae Kwon Do: Curtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control and
Indomitable Spirit.

Guthrie Community Credit Union Scholarship Application - Final Reminder - March 31st Due Date

This is a newly established scholarship by Guthrie Federal Credit Union. Guthrie Federal Credit
Union is deeply committed to supporting the education goals of graduating seniors.
Eligibility Criteria and Checklist:
• Graduating senior from Waverly Central High School, Tioga Central High
School, New York, or a Bradford County, PA high school - also including
parochial schools and home-schooled students.
• Must be accepted into an accredited four-year college or university.
• Write an essay of 250-500 words, double-spaced, that describes areas in your
life where you have demonstrated leadership and overcame obstacles either
through your school, social, or family life. While you can certainly write
about an experience that has had a profound effect on your life, it is important
to remember that we are not evaluating you based on the seriousness of the
obstacle you overcame. The goal of the essay is to show us that you have the
intelligence and fortitude to handle challenges that come your way.
