ATTENTION PARENTS OF JUNIORS AND SENIORS: This is to inform you that a provision of the Federal Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 requires all school districts to provide students’ demographic information to recruiters when requested. Federal law requires the New York Department of Education (DOE) to provide the following information about 11th and 12th grade high school students to Military Recruiters and institutions of Higher Education that request this information, except where the parent of a student who is younger than 18 years of age, or a student who is age 18 or over, opts out by notifying the DOE in writing that they do not consent to release this information. This information is also included in our yearly family calendar mailed to district families. The law also states that schools must notify parents and students that they have the right NOT to be included when the information is released if they choose. Students 18 years of age or older who do not want to release their information, must complete and sign this opt out letter themselves and it must be returned to the school. Parents and students 18 years of age or older who choose not to complete a form now may do so at any time the student is enrolled in a DOE school. To exercise your legal right to have information kept private, you should use the form below to notify the school office that you do not wish this information to be released.
